PANGAIA × Coral Gardeners returns for a second chapter, shaped by a shared commitment to restoring one of the planet's most vital ecosystems. The limited-edition capsule reimagines two core silhouettes: a black Hoodie in 320 GSM organic cotton and an off-white T-shirt in 170 GSM organic cotton jersey.
Both pieces are treated with PPRMINT™, a plant-based peppermint oil technology that keeps garments fresher for longer, extending wear between washes. Finished with graphics inspired by Coral Gardeners' mission, each piece supports ongoing reef restoration efforts and the regeneration of coral ecosystems worldwide.
Coral Gardeners began as a small group of surfers, freedivers, and fishermen on Mo’orea, the sister island of Tahiti in French Polynesia, who witnessed the rapid decline of their home reef and chose to act. What started locally has grown into a global movement of gardeners, scientists, engineers, and artists, united by a shared mission to revolutionize ocean conservation to restore coral reefs.
Today, that work operates at scale. More than 220,000 corals have been planted across reef systems in French Polynesia, Fiji and Thailand, with restoration efforts expanding to cultivate and restore resilient reef ecosystems worldwide. An estimated one billion people depend on coral reef ecosystems, directly or indirectly, underscoring their ecological and human significance.
The collaboration is grounded in a reality that cannot be ignored. Coral reefs sustain approximately 25% of all marine life, yet more than half have been lost in the past three decades. Without meaningful intervention, up to 90% could disappear by 2050, according to projections widely reported by the IPCC and UNEP. These figures are not abstract; they reflect the accelerating loss of one of the planet’s most biodiverse and vital ecosystems, and reinforce the urgency behind this partnership.
Coral Gardeners works where it matters most, in the water. The organization cultivates heat-resilient coral fragments in underwater nurseries, growing them over 12 to 18 months before replanting them onto damaged reefs and monitoring their recovery closely. This process restores not only coral, but the broader ecosystems that depend on them. Through CG Labs, Coral Gardeners develops advanced tools and technologies to scale restoration efforts globally, building new systems for monitoring reef health, improving restoration techniques, and expanding conservation impact across a growing network of connected reef sites.
