Dennis Okwera

Model, Actor and Philanthropist

Beyond appearing on the pages of i-D Magazine, Dazed and Vogue—Dennis’ education-led charity is dedicated to supporting his war-torn hometown. The Lumule Foundation empowers children through education, teaching schemes and the rebuilding of schools destroyed by conflict. In 2025 Dennis plans to cycle 300 kilometres through Uganda to raise funds for a health clinic in Lumule, proving that purpose, not experience, moves us to do extraordinary things.

"Just go for it. Be kind. Your cup isn’t empty, it’s half full. No matter the obstacle, just keep your heart strong" - Dennis Okwera

Welcome to A Portrait of Progress, a series that sees seven changemakers come together to create one inspiring collective. A collective united by one goal, protecting our planet and those who inhabit it.

Please introduce yourself.
Hi, my name is Dennis Okwera. I'm a model, actor, and some people call me a philanthropist, but I just think of myself as a giver.

What moves you?
Hope moves me. Kindness moves me, and seeing kindness around me, that really moves me.

What does Earth positive mean to you?
To me, Earth positivity is something we should all be thinking about. It’s about using whatever space or platform we have to do better for each other, and for the planet.

What advice would you tell your younger self?
I’d say: just go for it. Be kind. Your cup isn’t empty, it’s half full. No matter the obstacle, just keep your heart strong.

“Dennis Okwera wore sharp, sartorial layers with a sporty twist, an organic trench coat with relaxed tailoring and a second tonal lavender utility look.” —Anders Sølvsten Thomsen, stylist.
